Greenwood Puzzles: A Complete Guide to Their Wooden Jigsaw Puzzles

If you are looking for a jigsaw that feels a little different from a traditional cardboard puzzle, Greenwood puzzles are well worth discovering. These puzzles combine detailed artwork with durable wooden pieces and a choice of designs covering everything from nostalgic British scenes to wildlife, hobbies and much-loved locations.

At The Family Puzzle Shop, we stock a wide selection of Greenwood wooden puzzles, with 30 designs currently available in our range. Whether you want a relaxing puzzle for yourself or a thoughtful present for a keen puzzler, there are plenty of themes and piece counts to choose from.

More About Greenwood puzzles

Greenwood puzzles are wooden jigsaw puzzles featuring colourful, detailed artwork across a variety of themes. Instead of the traditional cardboard construction found in many jigsaws, the pieces are made from wood, giving them a distinctive feel when handling and assembling the puzzle.

The range is particularly appealing to adults who enjoy taking their time over a detailed image and want a puzzle that can be enjoyed more than once. Designs available from us include countryside scenes, wildlife, gardening, classic transport, coastal settings and illustrations inspired by locations around Britain.

Designs for different interests

One of the strengths of the Greenwood range is the variety of artwork available.

At The Family Puzzle Shop, our collection includes designs by artists such as Kevin Walsh and Emma Lawrence. Kevin Walsh designs include nostalgic scenes such as Bucket & Spade, The Village Shop, Caravan Holiday, Rail & Canal and Classic Car Club. These detailed images are ideal for anyone who enjoys traditional British scenes, transport or a touch of nostalgia.

Emma Lawrence’s designs offer another selection of subjects, including birds, cats and dogs, gardening, farmyard scenes and wildlife. There are also Greenwood wooden jigsaw puzzles celebrating places including London, Wales, the West Country, the Lake District, Scotland and Yorkshire.

That variety makes it much easier to choose a puzzle based on the person rather than simply selecting an attractive picture.

Which Greenwood puzzle should I choose?

Start with two questions: what subject do you enjoy, and how challenging would you like the puzzle to be?

For a fan of nostalgic artwork, one of Kevin Walsh’s detailed scenes may be a natural choice. Nature lovers can explore birds, wildlife and gardening themes, while someone with a favourite part of Britain might prefer one of the location-inspired designs.

You should also consider piece count. A smaller puzzle can provide a shorter, more accessible activity, while larger puzzles give experienced puzzlers something they can become absorbed in over a longer period.

What sizes do Greenwood wooden puzzles come in?

The available piece counts vary according to the design.

Many of the Kevin Walsh puzzles in our range are available in 48, 100, 256, 500 and 1,000-piece options. Several square Emma Lawrence designs are offered as 49, 100, 210 or 400-piece puzzles.

This flexibility is particularly useful when buying for someone else. You can choose artwork you know they will enjoy while also matching the puzzle to their preferred level of challenge.

A lower piece count does not necessarily mean the puzzle is only for beginners, either. Sometimes a smaller wooden jigsaw is exactly what an experienced puzzler wants when they are looking for a relaxing activity that can be completed in a shorter sitting.

Greenwood puzzles for adults and gifts

Are Greenwood puzzles suitable for adults? Yes. Their detailed artwork, wooden construction and range of piece counts make them an attractive option for adult puzzlers, from people looking for a manageable afternoon puzzle to experienced enthusiasts wanting a larger project.

They can also make excellent gifts for birthdays, Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day or simply for someone who enjoys puzzles. Choosing a theme connected to the recipient’s interests — such as gardening, wildlife, classic cars or a favourite British destination — adds a personal touch.

For anyone searching for wooden jigsaw puzzles for adults, premium wooden puzzles or unusual gifts for puzzle lovers, Greenwood offers plenty of variety.
